The Monument

TownHouse Galleria Hotel is located inside the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is one of the world's oldest shopping malls. Housed within a four-story double arcade in central Milan, Galleria is named after Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy. It was designed in 1861 and built by Giuseppe Mengoni between 1865 and 1877. The structure consists of two glass-vaulted arcades intersecting in an octagon covering the street connecting Piazza del Duomo to Piazza della Scala. The central octagonal space is topped with a glass dome. The Milanese Galleria was larger in scale than its predecessors and was an important step in the evolution of the modern glazed and enclosed shopping mall. It has inspired the use of the term galleria for many other shopping arcades and malls.

Here now you can find the Leonardo Da Vinci Museum hosted by our Hotel as well as luxury boutiques, cafés and restaurants, each of them with characteristic golden signboards on a black background. From the spectacular lounges and oyster bar of TownHouse Galleria Hotel at the first floor, you can enjoy a direct view on the most famous fashion brands located around the center of the Galleria. Tourists and locals know Vittorio Emanuele Gallery and its Octagon in the center, as the “living room of Milan” for its beauty and on its floor, in the center, you can admire a precious mosaic with the emblem of the Royal House of Savoy.

The gallery was in the past a meeting place where people gathered to discuss current events, and now it’s a special place where locals and tourists love to have a coffee, go shopping or simply have a walk to reach Duomo square or La Scala Theatre square. The gallery has been restored in the 20th century and also in 2015. In May 2015 a new stunning catwalk has been built on the rooftop of the Galleria, giving you the chance to admire the monument from its rooftops, to see the Duomo spires up close and enjoy breath-taking views of Milan.

By staying at TownHouse Galleria you will get a complimentary and exclusive access to the Leonardo Da Vinci Museum and to the Highline Galleria, directly from the Hotel.
